Tempe to survey residents on services |
The city of Tempe last month began mailing a survey to community members seeking input on everything from parks and streets to police and fire service. A three-page survey will be mailed to 2,400 randomly selected Tempe residents. The confidential survey takes an estimated 10 minutes to complete and residents are asked to mail it back to ETC Institute, of Olathe, Kansas, the company that has been retained to administer the survey for Tempe. |

Special athletes excel at Fall Games |
|
After weeks of training, 51 athletes from Tempe’s Special Olympics program competed in the annual Special Olympics Fall Games in Surprise Oct. 17-18. The event was a statewide competition, with more than 1,000 Arizona athletes participating in aquatics, bocce, golf and softball. Tempe’s athletes competed in the aquatics and golf events and earned a combined total of 77 medals and 19 participation ribbons. |

Tempeans gather for centennial celebration |
For the past 100 years, Tempe residents have gathered for an annual reunion to socialize, talk about life in the city and share memories. In 1902, Tempe’s founding families had a picnic on The Peterson Lawn in the fall to give thanks for living though the Arizona summers. Descendants of this hearty group have met ever since then (only skipping a few years during World War II). |
