City of Tempe hosts volunteer orientation
The city of Tempe is making it easy to get involved with a workshop and volunteer expo scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 12, between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., at the Tempe Public Library, 3500 S. Rural Road.

The hour-long “Get Involved!” workshop from 10 to 11 a.m. can help you uncover your skills and interests and show you where and how you can help your community in a big way.

    The workshop is followed by the “Get Involved!” Expo from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., where you can speak with representatives from a wide variety of volunteer programs. Attend one or both activities.

    Programs represented will include Tempe Center for the Arts, Friends of the Tempe Public Library, Tempe Historical and Petersen House Museums, CARE7 Crisis Response Team, Experience Corps reading improvement program for children, Volunteers in policing, Tempe boards and commissions, special events and more.
