Car theft prevention awareness day
Did you know that Arizona ranks No. 2 in the nation for motor vehicle theft? Last year, Arizona had more than 54,000 stolen vehicles, which breaks down to one vehicle stolen every 9.5 minutes.
Arizonans can do their part to protect their vehicles by participating in the 3rd annual Statewide Auto Theft Prevention & Awareness Day 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Robert L Hawk Crime Prevention Unit, 10 W. Guadalupe Road (northwest corner of All-America Way and Guadalupe).
The free event will include such services as Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) etching, distribution of steering wheel locks and/or enrolling residents in the state’s Watch Your Car decal program.
The event is sponsored by the Arizona Auto Theft Authority, National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), Weingarten Realty and statewide law enforcement agencies. For more information, visit www.stopautotheft.org.
