May 16th, 2008  6:00pm to 10pm

Keynote Speaker- John Junker, President and CEO Fiesta Bowl and Insight Bowl

The Arizona Academy of the Performing Arts (The Academy) will host its Fifth Annual Benefit Dinner at the Arizona Grand Resort at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008. John Junker, President and CEO for the Fiesta Bowl and Insight Bowl, is the keynote speaker. John will share his passion for music and how it helps in the development and growth of young leaders in our community. Attendees will also enjoy performances from selected members of The Academy.

The theme "The Race to Indianapolis," is a nod to the fact that Drum Corps International will move its headquarters and the 2008 World Championships to Indiana. The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps will compete again in 2008, after exceeding all expectations in 2007 - placing 13th in the world their first year in Division I competition.

The Benefit Dinner will raise funds for the The Academy's programs, including the Drum Corps' 2008 summer tour. The Corps will tour for 37 days, competing in 20 shows, and traveling nearly 12,000 miles throughout the United States during the summer months.

Tickets are $75 per person and include dinner, entertainment, special performances, as well as silent and live auctions. Black tie is optional. All proceeds from the dinner benefit The Academy, which is committed to creating positive learning and performing experiences for young people who are passionate about music.
