SPOTLIGHT ON: Doyle receives Leadership Award

Tempe Leadership has announced that Sharon Doyle received its Outstanding Community Leadership Award. The award recognizes outstanding leadership achievements and service that contribute to improving the quality of life in Tempe.

A second-generation Arizonan, Doyle always has had a passion for education. She retired in 2005 after a 30-year-long career as a speech and language pathologist with the Tempe Union High School District. She served as Chair of the Special Education Department at Marcos de Niza High School from 1990-1993

She holds a Master of Education degree in Guidance and Counseling from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Alabama.

Extremely active in community service, Doyle currently serves on 16 different committees and organizations. She is a graduate of Tempe Leadership Class XVI and is the president of the Tempe High School District Education Foundation, vice president of the Tempe Impact Education (TIE) Foundation and is active on the Tempe City Council’s Education, Technology and Economic Development Committee.

“One of Sharon’s passions is linking people and programs together and believes that it is her ability to serve on diverse committees, organizations and boards that has enabled her to see success after success come to life for the children and residents of Tempe,” said Tempe Leadership President Kathleen Clark. “Tempe Leadership is proud to have Sharon as a graduate and ambassador of the good works our graduates get involved in.”
