Citizens’ Police Academy returns
Are you ever curious about what it would be like to be a police officer? Tempeans have the opportunity to participate in a free, 13-week program that provides citizens with an in-depth examination of the rigors and responsibilities facing Tempe police officers.

Academy attendees will participate in several hands-on exercises such as going on a ride-along with officers, learning about and using firearms in the shooting range, witnessing a K-9 demonstration and learning about department-issued Tasers.

The program runs every Tuesday, Aug. 5 through Oct. 28, from 6-9 p.m. in the Police Auditorium, 120 E. Fifth St. There is no cost and applications must be submitted by June 27. For information or for an application, visit www.tempe.gov/police/citizenspoliceacademy.
