| SRP ‘Cool Cash’ rebate extended |
|
With summer temperatures right around the corner, Salt River Project has extended its popular SRP PowerWise Cool Cash Rebate Program until Sept. 30 to replace older cooling units with the installation of a new, high-efficiency cooling system. Depending on the efficiency ratio of the new cooling unit (minimum 14 SEER) and the equipment configuration, the rebate for the program ranges from $250 to $600 for current SRP electric customers with an existing home who replace their existing central heat pump or central air conditioner. For more information and program specifics, visit www.srpnet.com/energy/powerwise.
Since cooling systems are the No. 1 summertime energy user, correct sizing of the system and proper installation are critical to ensuring peak efficiency and maximum comfort. As part of the rebate program, SRP requires contractors to conduct an industry standard sizing calculation and verify that airflow and refrigerant charge are within manufacturer’s specification. To participate in the program, SRP residential electric customers must have their new qualified cooling system installed by a licensed contractor before the Sept. 30 deadline. Both indoor air-handler and condensing units must be replaced on split systems and listed as matching units by the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI). Window cooling units and new construction do not qualify. To apply for the rebate, qualifying SRP customers must submit a completed rebate application, a dated copy of the paid invoice and a copy of the sizing calculation worksheet. The applications, which should be available from participating contractors, must be postmarked by Nov. 30. For a referral to a licensed contractor, or for more information on the application process, call 602-264-3108 or the SRP PowerWise Certified Contractor Program at 602-274-6808.
