| ‘Garage Guys’ find fun in job |
Although they might not be the most talked about buildings or the main reason we visit the places we do, parking structures are certainly one of the more under-appreciated facets of a community—until you talk to the “Garage Guys.”

Dale Hardin and Kevin Maas of McCarthy Building Companies in Tempe are two well-loved garage guys who have been committed to building quality garage structures throughout the Valley for the past eight years. Currently they’re working diligently to bring a better parking mojo in the bustling downtown Tempe area, constructing a five-story city of Tempe parking structure adjacent to city hall that will include retail and office space. “What I love about this particular project,” said Maas, “is the self-perform aspect. We are in total control of the project’s destiny.” To many Tempeans, it’s a much-needed garage. To the Garage Guys, it’s a work of art they are perfecting.
