Day on the Lake is held every year and gives people with neurological impairments the opportunity to experience water recreation. “Everyone has the right to play and live life to its fullest,” says Gus LaZear, certified therapeutic recreation specialist at Barrow. “Day on the Lake provides the neurologically and physically disabled with an opportunity to be active, interact and share experiences.” With the help of Barrow and a specialized team from California, participants are able to try their hand at water sports in a safe and encouraging environment. Day on the Lake is the only adapted water sport event of its kind in the state of Arizona, providing people with physical and neurological disabilities the chance be active.
