Kiwanis Tennis Center awarded USTA grant

The City of Tempe Kiwanis Recreation Center has been awarded a grant from the United States Tennis Association (USTA) for the promotion of the QuickStart Program.  The grant will go to helping youth learn tennis.

QuickStart Tennis is gaining nationwide use as an exciting new play format to learn the game of tennis.  t is designed to bring kids under the age of 10 into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions, and modified scoring.  The program takes age and size into account as well.

The USTA Southwest Section Grant Committee felt that Kiwanis Recreation Center’s Tennis program showed strength in the past and wanted to contribute to future successes. Fifteen lighted tennis courts with a brand new Rebound Ace Eco Cushion surface are available for public, private and program use.
