Hunnicutt officially takes helm at TCU

Tempe resident Margaret Hunnicutt has officially been named chief executive officer (CEO) of Tempe Schools Credit Union.

Hunnicutt has served as the interim CEO for the last few months. Dr. William Hegebush, Board of Directors chairman for Tempe Schools Credit Union says, “We are very pleased to name Margaret as our next CEO. She possesses the talent and experience which will help lead this organization into the future and face the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.”

Hunnicutt has been with Tempe Schools Credit Union for seven years, having served as chief financial officer and senior vice president of the $165 million credit union. A CPA with more than 30 years experience in the financial services industry, Hunnicutt has been tasked with the overall financial health of the credit union, including accounting and financial management. During her tenure as CFO, assets have risen more than 50 percent.

In 2004, she brought the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, or VITA, to Tempe Schools Credit Union. The program utilizes the credit union’s employees and other trained volunteers to provide free tax preparation to low-income families in Tempe and Guadalupe.

Hunnicutt is a graduate of the Tempe Leadership Class XXI, is a member of the President’s Advisory Council with Chandler Gilbert Community College and is currently the Board President for the 2008-2009 fiscal year for the Tempe Community Council.

An avid golfer, Hunnicutt lives in Tempe with her husband Bob; they have five children and one granddaughter.
