Residents encouraged to explore volunteerism
If you are searching for ways to get involved in the Tempe community, look no further than two free events offered by the city’s volunteer office: the Get Involved! Workshop and the Volunteer Expo. During the workshop, on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 10-11 a.m. in the lower level learning center of the Tempe Public Library, 3500 S. Rural Road, participants will learn to uncover their interests and skills, and identify ways they can best apply themselves within the community. The Volunteer Expo, held Thursday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the lower level Program Room at the library, will allow volunteers to meet representatives from two dozen programs. The aim is to introduce community members to many organizations in one setting, so they can compare and find the right fit for volunteering. Organizations that will be represented include the Tempe Center for the Arts, Friends of the Tempe Public Library, the Tempe Historical Museum and Petersen House Museum, CARE7 Crisis Response Team, Experience Corps, Volunteers in Policing, Tempe boards and commissions, special events and much more. The Volunteer Expo only happens once a year, so don’t miss it!

For questions or information, call the City of Tempe volunteer office at 480-350-5190.
