Boat ‘Grand Prix’ on Tempe Town Lake
The SPARK of Hope Foundation (SOH) has been chosen as the charitable beneficiary for the first-ever Tempe F1 ChampBoat Grand Prix Series, held at Tempe Town Lake Sept. 27-28. Macayo’s Mexican Kitchen is providing food and drinks during the two-day event, and a portion of the event proceeds will go toward SOH to continue its charitable efforts to provide financial assistance to disabled children and their families.

The F1 ChampBoat Grand Prix Series is the fastest-growing motor sport in the world and is considered to be the NASCAR of the water. Weighing in at just over 1,000 pounds and measuring 17 feet in length, these Formula 1 race boats can accelerate from zero to 100 mph in 3.5 seconds and can reach top speeds of almost 140 mph, making it the No. 1 spectator sport on the water.

Drivers from North America and from all over the world will be competing, and 18 to 20 boats will be racing on a one-mile course. There will also be Formula 2 Race Boats competing in a separate race.

Tickets for the Tempe Grand Prix are available for $15 per day or $25 for two days. Kids under the age of 12 are free of charge.
